The Crazy Blog

The Crazy Elephant now has it's own blog! I will be using it to put out information about the shop and our items and will be putting up some tutorials for green products you can make for yourself too. I highly recommend checking it out. It is still small but will be updated often. I would love to see my followers section grow over there. Visit the new blog here: thecrazyelephantboutique.blogspot.com

A New Year's Show

This morning we got the chance to go to Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music! Adam's parents won 4 tickets and brought Jayne and I. I have never seen him sit so still and quietly in his whole life. The show just left him in awe. Before we went he kept telling me that all the sesame street guys wouldn't be there because they are just make believe. He had changed his tune by the end of the show. We got there before the masses so we found our seats and headed down to the goodie cart to pick out something special to bring home. Jayne picked the glowing, color changing Elmo wand. Then we took his picture next to the Elmo on the booth.
Bert and Ernie came out and said hello when the show started. They told us the letter of the day was J...just like Jayne! Well, you can only imagine how excited Jayne was that the letter of the day at the big show was the same as the first letter of his name. It was almost like the show was made just for him.
There were so many fun songs to listen to. The audience was mostly non responsive to questions and cues. If they were anything like Jayne, it was because of being awestruck. One song was about triangles. Tellie asked everyone to make triangles. I made a triangle with my fingers and showed Jayne. He tried but it was more of a diamond. I helped him straighten out his thumbs and here is the resulting triangle. This is also a fairly good show of just how far away we were from the action. I still got great pics though.
After lots of songs, an intermission filled with begging for the balloons they brought out, and more songs, they finally did the farewell song. All of the characters came out and danced and said good-bye to the audience. Then the audience silence ended when they shot off confetti rockets. It was an awesome end. Jayne said he wished he could go to the show every day. We all had a lot of fun, besides the slight case the gimmes that the little guy caught. Plus I really liked that it didn't revolve around Elmo, like you would think from the title. I hope you all are having a great new year's eve too and I hope to bring you lots of great posts in 2012!

The New Mystery Item

As comfy as the liners
I have been asked so many times by so many people to expand from just pantyliners to pads as well in my Mommy Essentials line. Well, your requests have not fallen on deaf ears! I spent months researching designs and thinking about what I wanted for myself as well. This is the design I ultimately came up with. It is quite similar to the pantyliners I currently make, and one of my best selling lines I might add. I have worn them and they are so comfortable. I have not had a chance to "properly" test them yet. I made them so that they are longer than disposable pads giving a much more secure feel for night time wear. I slimmed down the original design as they were a little wide. These pads are made the same way as the liners but with a fluffy terry cloth center. These won't be in shop till I feel the have had a thorough test. They are coming though and I will let everyone know when they are ready to order!

Prints like this make monthly visitors a little more fun

The School Year Routine

Jayne does his sensory bin in his school
Yesterday was the official start of the school year for us. The loosey goosey summer approach has hit its end. I feel really good with the routine that we are starting this fall. We are organized and getting things done this year. It is the first fall that I haven't been working full time hours. My days are all spent here at home working on our home, school, and boutique, plus my daycare kiddo a couple of hours a day. I thought I would share our daily schedule. It varies slightly depending on when Adam works.

7:00a - Wake up and dressed
7:30a - Breakfast
8:00a - Calendar and worksheet time
8:30a - Activities (such as sensory bin and size sorter etc.)
9:00a - Dog walk or indoor exercise depending on weather
9:30a -Story Time
10:00a - Free play hour for Jayne, dishes, chores and cooking for me
11:00a - Lunch time
12:00p - Art time
12:30p - Story time
1:00p - Time to finish unfinished school work and do the day's chore
2:00p - Nap/resting time
3:30p - Games and songs
4:00p - Same as 10:00a
5:00p - Supper
6:00p - Outside play, but sometimes movies or inside play
7:00p - Pick up
7:30p - Bedtime routine for Jayne
8:00p - Jayne goes to bed...it is GROWN UP TIME!

It is pretty well booked and looks like a pretty strict schedule, but it does keep us focused and we are fine with routine changes when things come up. I am excited to see how this new year (lets face it, when school is involved, this is the new year) pans out. I expect many good changes, fun and educational growth to come our way!

A Launch and a Notice

Here it is, the mini crayon roll! It is a super fun add on to car trips and more, anywhere you want to pack light. Each crayon roll comes with 4 crayons but Jayne likes to stuff in 8 and they fit fine. These also have a flap on the top to help keep the crayons inside. I had planned on getting several listed in our shops today and that brings me to part 2 of the post...

My poor computer is sick from a month of high heat and humidity. I can't use the programs that I need to edit my pictures, let alone put the pictures on my computer. Since we do not have AC I may not be able to get back online for a while. In the meantime, Our shops will be closed online and I will not be able to post or anything till we get it worked out. You can still see us at the 3 shows (previous post) and the mini crayon rolls will be there and waiting for new homes. There will be a post on Friday, it is autoposting from earlier in the week and does not mean I am back online yet. When I am back, you will know.

Thanks for holding in there with us and please keep cool!

TCE August Preview

It is a big month for The Crazy Elephant Boutique! This month is our 2nd birthday. Today I am going to give you a preview of what the month has in store.

Our Line - I have created a new line and I will be launching it tomorrow! We have also done some price changes. I have done them already and for the items we have in our shops currently there was only one item that went up. The big deal though is the drop in the price of our lunch packs, perfect with back to school shopping under way.

Live Shows - We have 3 shows coming up this month. The details of each are below...

Rolling Stone Days
August 6th 9am-3pm
At the Park
Rolling Stone, MN

Rolling Stone Days
August 7th 11am-4pm
At the park
Rolling Stone, MN

Zumbrota Block Party
August 18th 5pm-8pm
On the main drag
Zumbrota, MN

Our shops will be closed online during the events, so plan accordingly.

Big Sale - Our actual birthday is on the 20th. We will be running a 3 day sale from roughly 8am on the 19th to 8am on the 22nd. I will give more info on that the day before the sale starts. It will be worth stopping by though!

I am so excited to share our TCE birthday with all of you! So, to start off the month, what is your favorite TCE item?
